While social security payments in the beginning might seem adequate to some it really does not keep up with the costs seniors experience as they age.

PESID welcomes and encourages a discussion on COLA Social Security.

    The increases that Medicare gives you are few and far between to keep up with the cost of living. Something needs to be changed, thats for sure….

    The issue here is Medicare. You see Medicare Part B premiums are deducted from Social Security. Medicare Part B has been inflating at over 7%, on average, for the last 47 years. Social Security’s COLA for 2014 is 1.5%. There have been times when Social Security had no COLA. Many people have Medicare Part D deducted from Social Security too. That has been inflating as well.

    Oh yeah, Medicare is also means tested.
